Barcelona news: Frenkie de Jong is among the most talented midfielders in the Spanish La Liga.
De Jong joined the Blaugrana for €75 million from Ajax in the summer transfer window of 2019. He has played 104 league games for the Spanish giants so far, registering nine goals and nine assists.
The 25-year-old midfielder was among the Blaugrana’s top performers when they win Copa del Rey in 2020-21, registering three goals and two assists in five appearances. He also won the 2020-21’s Premi Barça Jugadors (Barça Players Award).
De Jong is also a vital member of the Netherlands national team. De Jong has represented his country 44 times since making his debut in 2019.

The Blaugrana midfielder Frenkie de Jong has revealed that he always wanted to stay at Camp Nou despite his exit rumours during the summer.
Speaking to the media, he said (via Fabrizio Romano): “For me it was clear, I wanted to stay in Barcelona. There’s no problem – between me and my teammates nothing has changed.

According to the Atheltic, Barcelona have even accepted a bid worth €85 million from Manchester United to sell him. However, De Jong always wanted to stay at the club and blocked his exit.
Meanwhile, De Jong has been in excellent form for the Catalonian club this season. He has registered one goal in six LaLiga appearances so far. The Dutchman is expected to play a key role for Barca as they lock horns against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid for the league title this term.
