Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele is among the most talented attackers of his generation. The France international joined the Blaugrana from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window of 2017.
He has played 170 games (in all competitions) for the Blaugrana so far, registering 37 goals and 41 assists. Dembele helped the Catalonia outfit win two La Liga titles, among other honours. He assisted 13 assists in 21 league games last term, the most in La Liga during the 2021-22 season.
The 25-year-old attacker’s previous contract at Camp Nou expired at the end of last season. However, Barcelona negotiated a new deal with him in July, which will run until 2024.
Jordi Cryuff commented on Ousmane Dembele’s future at Barcelona
Barcelona CEO, Jordi Cryuff has revealed that Ousmane Dembele wants to stay at Camp Nou.
Speaking to the media, he said: “Dembélé has always said that he wants to stay. He has been really respectful and we’re super happy with Ousmane”.
Barcelona are planning to open contract talks with Ousmane Dembele at the end of the current season. The 25-year-old attacker has been among the Blaugrana’s top performers this season. He has registered four goals and five assists in 14 La Liga appearances so far. Dembele also contributed one goal and two assists in six UEFA Champions League appearances prior to Blaugrana’s elimination from the competition.
The France international has impressed with his performances at the FIFA World Cup. Dembele has assisted two goals in four FIFA World Cup appearances so far. He is expected to play a key role for Les Blues when they lock horns against France in the quarter-finals tie at Al Bayt Stadium on December 11.
Barcelona CEO on Memphis Depay future
The Blaugrana CEO Jordi Cryuff also provided an update on the future of Memphis Depay. He said: “Why should we sell Depay in January if it’s difficult to sign new players because of Financial Fair Play? He’s always been a great professional. He can be really helpful. Free agent in June? We will see in the next months.”
The Netherlands international joined Barcelona from Ajax in the summer transfer window of 2021. He has played 41 games (in all competitions) for the Blaugrana so far, registering 14 goals and two assists.
His contract at Camp Nou will expire at the end of the current season. He is expected to leave the club upon its expiration.
