According to journalist Jose Alvarez (via Sportskeeda), Barcelona are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante next summer.
The Blaugrana’s manager Xavi and his technical staff are huge admirers of the France international. He sees the World Cup winner as an ideal replacement for Sergio Busquests, who is expected to move away from Camp Nou upon the expiration of his contract next summer.
But the Blues midfielder has suffered numerous fitness problems recently. He managed to play just two league games this term. His injury record could force the Catalonia club to move away from the deal. Kante’s contract at Stamford Bridge will expire at the end of the current season. According to Athletic, the midfielder is rejecting the Blues’ contract proposal.
He could join the Blaugrana for free next summer. However, the La Liga giants are likely to face competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who have also shown interest in signing him in recent weeks.
What will N’Golo Kante bring to Camp Nou?
Kante is an energetic footballer who likes to operate as a defensive midfielder. His key strengths are his passing, tackling, and ability to play defense-splitting through balls.
According to WhoScored, he averaged 1 shot, 1.5 key passes, 2.5 tackles, and 1.5 interceptions per 90 minutes in the league this season. He also completed 84.8 percent of his attempted passes in the Premier League.
Barcelona is currently at the top of the LaLiga table, with 22 points from eight games. They will next go up against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League before locking horns against Real Madrid in the league on October 16.
