Frenkie de Jong Transfer: Barcelona Director Gives Update on the Dutch International’s Future

Frenkie de Jong has been linked with a transfer away from Barcelona. The Netherlands international is among the most talented midfielders of his generation.

He joined Barcelona for €75 million from Ajax in the summer transfer window of 2019. De Jong has played 157 games (in all competitions) for the Blaugrana so far, registering 15 goals and 19 assists. He helped the Blaugrana win the 2020-21 Copa del Rey and also won the Premi Barça Jugadors (Barça Players Award) in 2020–21.

Barcelona CEO Jordi Cruyff has revealed that the time to sell Frenkie de Jong has passed now.

Speaking to SPORT, he said: “Frenkie de Jong is not for sale. He’s key player for us, so that time has passed. He’s here and he’s important for us. At the end last summer after Fair Play discussions he stayed here and Frenkie is really loved at Barça”.
