Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams has broken his silence on his future at the Basque club with rumours of Premier League interest.
Nico Williams has been linked with a move away from Athletic Bilbao for a long time as the speedy winger continues to impress in La Liga.
This season for Bilbao, Williams has netted five times and provided a further 11 assists in 37 La Liga games and this has led to interest from Barcelona and indeed multiple Premier League clubs.
The winger has been speaking about his future and has dropped a hint about what his intentions will be after the European Championship.
Williams on his future
Speaking to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the winger was asked about what his future looks like and he has replied.
“I’m very happy at Athletic, it’s the club that has given me everything, the one that has bet on me one hundred percent,” he said.
“It’s my home, I’m very happy, and what I want to do is focus on the European Championship one hundred percent and otherwise I don’t know what’s going to happen.
“I have told my agent that I don’t want to know anything until the end of the European Championship.”
HITC have previously reported that Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United have been watching the winger closely for a number of months but one aspect has ‘shocked’ these clubs.
Premier League clubs put off by ‘shock’ numbers
When Williams put pen to paper on a new contract at Bilbao, the wages of the winger was set to increase exponentially and that is what has put off interested clubs.
Sources have told HITC that Williams currently earns in the region of £200,000 and if he is to move to the Premier League, the Spaniard would seek £250,000 – £300,000 a week.
This has naturally put the majority of teams off with Williams set to be a top earner were he to join Newcastle, for example.
HITC has been told that Barcelona view Williams as a top target this summer although it is unclear how the Spanish side would pull such a deal off.
