Pedri is part of the 26-man Spain squad that flew to Qatar to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2022. He started for Spain in their first game of the FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign as they breezed past Costa Rica, securing a 7-0 win.
Pedri was impressive for Spain in that match as the European heavyweights got their FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign off to a flying start.
For Barcelona, Pedri has been a regular fixture in the lineup in the 22/23 season. The highly-rated young midfielder has featured in 19 games for Barcelona in the first half of the 22/23 season.

Speaking to GOAL, Xavi was full of praise for the Spain international, who he said has ‘no ceiling’.
Xavi lavished praise on Pedri, claiming that the 20-year-old has all the skills a footballer has to have. The Barcelona manager also noted that Pedri is showing unusual maturity at the FIFA World Cup 2022.
“Pedri has no ceiling,” Xavi said. “He has all the skills that a footballer has to have, in this case, a midfielder, he has talent, he has sacrificed, he is strong defensively, he can play three games in a row, he has everything to make a difference.
“He has just turned 20, he is very young but shows an unusual maturity in a World Cup. It’s a pleasure to watch him play, he can make a difference in any match. He gets along with Gavi, he associates with Busquets. We have a centre in Spain that is a delight to watch play.“

Meanwhile, Pedri will be aiming to maintain his impressive form in the rest of Spain’s FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign. Spain currently tops Group E with four points from two matches.
Spain’s next match in the FIFA World Cup 2022 is against Asian powerhouse Japan. The Japanese shocked Germany in their first game but lost to Costa Rica in their next game.
